Joust is a fast, head-to-head frisbee duel that tests control, focus, and a little bit of daring. Two players face off, each trying to knock a balanced disc off their opponent’s hand while protecting their own. It’s simple to learn, quick to play, and wildly addictive.
Equipment
- 3 flying discs per player
Setup
Each player needs three discs:
- Shield Disc – Held upside down in the non-dominant (weak) hand.
- Target Disc – Balanced upside down on top of the Shield Disc.
- Jousting Disc – Held in the dominant (strong) hand and used to attack.
Players stand facing each other about 1–2 metres apart.
Objective
Use your Jousting Disc to knock your opponent’s Target Disc off their Shield Disc – without losing your own.
How to Play
- On “Go,” both players begin trying to knock the opponent’s Target Disc off using only their Jousting Disc.
- Players may block with any disc they are holding, but may not grab or swat directly with their hands.
- If your Target Disc falls off, you lose the round.
- Reset and play again or rotate in new players.
Team Version
- Players form two teams.
- One player from each team jousts.
- The player who loses is replaced by the next teammate.
- First team to run out of players loses.
Rules
- Target Disc must start balanced on the Shield Disc.
- No throwing – discs must stay in the hands.
- No stepping into your opponent’s space.
- Play to control, not force – safety first.
Why It’s Awesome
Joust builds hand-eye coordination, ambidexterity, patience, and playful competitiveness – all with zero setup and maximum laughs.
